Introducing The Surgery Convention 2020
National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham 17th & 18th March 2020
The Surgery Convention is the UK’s leading event for surgical teams. The show will bring 1,500 surgeons, and 500 hospital directors and procurement managers under one roof. The Surgery Convention will host 60 CPD accredited seminars and workshops alongside 100 of the most cutting edge exhibitors working to deliver the very best in surgical technology.
Due to the increasing pressure from a growing society there is currently a steady and consistent increase in demand for surgical procedures within the NHS and UK private hospital sector. Despite exceptional efforts by staff in emergency and trauma departments to see more patients than ever, a higher demand for urgent surgery from the public has seen cancelled operations as a consequence. When coupled with a 27% increase of surgical demand from 2003/04 to 2013/14, it all paints a clear picture that something needs to be done in order for health services to continue strengthening their efforts in alleviating this pressure.
Surgery services require better efficiency to meet this increased need whilst also honouring patients already waiting for procedures. The NHS saw 4,017 urgent operations cancelled in 2018, with a further 156 cancelled for a second time. This figure is enhanced by the further knowledge that procedure cancellations were on the rise in 2018, all shown by the most recent NHS Key Statistics Report from February 2018. This represents an opportunity to utilise contemporary technology and techniques to enable teams from private and public sectors to perfectly perform every procedure, and ensure the best patient outcome. There was a 53% increase in self-pay surgeries last year, revealing huge potential for the private hospital sector to be a key ally in meeting this current and escalating demand for procedures as efficiently as possible. All of this will be on centre stage at the Surgery Convention across the the 60 CPD accredited seminars and the 100 exhibitors currently spearheading the surgical industry.
In previous years, the Neuro Convention had a dedicated focus on neurological surgery. Alongside this event, the Oncology Convention and Imaging Convention both had key themes of oncological surgery, as well as pre and post surgical imaging to ensure perfect performance. Given the scale of these sectors, the Surgery Convention will deepen the already comprehensive collection of events by providing a platform for all members of surgical teams from every speciality to find the latest in surgical technology. The Neuro Convention, Oncology Convention, Imaging Convention, and the AI & Machine Learning Convention will be neighbouring the Surgery Convention at the NEC, Birmingham on 17th and 18th March at MediWeek.
Across the 100 cutting edge exhibitors and the 60 CPD accredited seminars, surgeons, clinicians, and hospital directors will find the information, techniques, technology, and services they need to ensure the delivery of perfect procedures for every patient.
