National Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP)
The City, Sandwell and Walsall Breast Screening Service is part of the National Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and invites over 55,000 local women for screening each year. We provide a free breast screening service for well women aged between 50 and 70, resident in East and North Birmingham, Heart of Birmingham , Sandwell and Walsall PCTs.
We aim to provide and promote an efficient and effective, high quality breast screening service, to all eligible women within a caring environment.
Breast screening aims to find breast cancer at an early stage, often before there are any symptoms. To do this, an x-ray is taken of each breast (mammogram). Early detection may often mean simpler and more successful treatment.
