Ernie Cerdena has been in the field of medical imaging for 33 years. Currently, he is a Corporate Director of Radiology Services at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in New Jersey, a member of the Geisinger Health. Ernie completed his PhD in Business Administration specializing in Healthcare Administration in 2016. Dr. Cerdena is an adjunct professor at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences teaching Strategic Management and Business Policy and Health Resources and Policy Analysis.
Dr. Cerdena served as the AHRA President of the Board of Directors in 2015-2016. He is a regular faculty of the Basic Leadership Institute. He is a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certified, a certified trainer for ALICE Active shooter training, and High Reliability Organization (HRO) patient safety training. He is a Certified Radiology Administrator, AHRA Fellow, a board certified in healthcare management and Fellow by the American College of Healthcare Executives.
UPDATE on Lessons Learned in Adopting Clinical Decision Support Mechanism In Diagnostic Imaging
The Clinical Decision Support Mechanism connects ordering clinicians with evidence-based guidance directly in the ordering workflow, helping to improve quality of care and increase patient safety by eliminating inappropriate or unnecessary imaging studies. This topic addresses the pitfalls and accomplishments of CDSM early adoption. Furthermore, the discussion shares common barriers of CDSM interoperability with hospital electronic health record, operational workflow optimization, and performance metrics development to meet hospital quality programs. This is updated information since the mandate has taken effect in January 2020.
