Prof Iris Quasar Grunwald

Professor Grunwald is the Consultant Neuroradiologist and Associate Medical Director at Southend University and Director Neuroscience at Anglia Ruskin University School of Medicine. She has published > 150 papers and several book chapters, mainly in the field of neurointervention and pre-hospital care. She has specific expertise in neuro interventional procedures.
Prof. Grunwald has an international reputation as an expert in implementing acute stroke services. She was in the team that invented and implemented the first Mobile Stroke Unit (Lancet Neurology 2012 and 2017). She is the VP of the World Federation for Interventional Stroke Treatment (WIST) and has trained interventionalists and teams throughout the world. Prof. Grunwald is Co-founder and Medical Director of the life science company Brainomix, an award winning (finalist European Academic Enterprise Awards (ACES)), ISO13485 and ISO9001 certified start-up company of Oxford University, which specialises in medical imaging biomarkers. She runs conferences (www.ICCAonline.org) and hands-on training courses on catheter interventions, aneurysms and interventional stroke treatment. In her spare time she enjoys sailing and competition aerobatics.
