Professor Xujiong Ye

Xujiong Ye is a Professor of Medical Imaging & Computer Vision in the School of Computer Science, University of Lincoln, UK. Prof. Ye has over 20 years’ research and development experiences in medical imaging and computer vision from both academia and industry. Her main research is to develop computational models to support clinicians in decision-making, using advanced image analysis and artificial Intelligence (AI) for detection, segmentation, and classification of abnormalities in the colon, rectal, lung, brain, esophagus and liver, etc, from multi-modalities medical images (e.g. CT, MRI, Endoscopy and Ultrasound). Prof Ye has over 100 publications, 3 granted patents in the fields of medical image processing, computer vision, and machine learning.
Medical Image Analysis using Artificial Intelligence
This talk will start with a brief introduction of deep learning, with focus on deep convolutional neural network (CNN) for medical image feature extraction using a hierarchy of multiple layers. As examples, I will present our recent work on medical image analysis using AI, including esophageal abnormality detection from endoscopy using DenseNet, FCN based brain tumour detection and segmentation using multimodal MRI, with some discussions on the results.
