The talk presents a brief introduction to digital pathology and AI as background for what we should consider in relation to the integration of AI into diagnostic practice. There will be an overview of the role of AI in pathology, pathologists and public attitudes to AI and existing guidance on its use. An introduction to the emerging literature of ethics and equity of AI use in healthcare will be presented. A systems based approach to deployment of AI will be discussed - as a means to addressing challenges of AI adoption at scale in pathology practice
