PathLAKE a centre of excellence for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in pathology funded by the Data to Early Diagnosis and Precision Medicine strand of the government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). PathLAKE led by an NHS institution and focusses on bringing the benefits of AI in pathology to the NHS and patients.
In this 5th year of the programme the project has digitised 21 separate NHS cellular pathology laboratories and is deploying AI solutions to deliver improved pathology services for patients. In this keynote I will review the approach taken to procurement and implementation focussing on the challenges successes and less successful aspects of this ambitious programme.
