Managing Director, North West London Pathology

Saghar is Managing Director of North West London Pathology (NWLP) an NHS pathology service based in London delivering a single, integrated pathology service for Imperial College Healthcare Trust,
Hillingdon Hospital Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. NWLP is one of the largest pathology providers in the UK.

Saghar joined NWLP as Managing Director in 2018 and under her direction a large scale transformation programme was initiated and successfully completed in 4 years. Through her leadership, the organisation has developed its vision and values as well as its employee proposition. NWLP were shortlisted for Lab Of The Year; won Imperial Trust’s Chair’s Award as well as Team Excellence Award; received an excellence award for their data collection and response to Covid-19; and in 2021 a member of staff was shortlisted for Biomedical Scientist of the Year.

Saghar is a Biomedical Scientist herself, with a Professional Doctorate in Biomedical Science, a Chartered Manager with an Executive MBA and a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science. She has worked in laboratories both within the NHS and private sector as well as holding a regional role as NHSI’s Regional Diagnostic Lead for Midlands and East.

Saghar has been an executive for a decade with extensive experience in training and development, quality and governance, operational management right up to successfully implementing multi-million pound transformation programmes in two pathology organisations. She led one of her previous organisations, South West London Pathology, to become a multi-award winning pathology service, modernising it and delivering significant annual savings much like the current organisation.

Saghar was recently included in the Pathologist Power List, an international list which is updated every year to present some of the most inspirational pathologists and laboratory medicine professionals. This was in recognition of her role during the pandemic ensuring the organisation was ready to support NHS testing requirements.
