Dr Claudia Lindner

The University of Manchester

Dr Claudia Lindner is a Rutherford Fund Fellow at Health Data Research UK based at the University of Manchester. Her career includes over 15 years of international experience in the development and application of computational methods working within multi-disciplinary teams in both industrial and academic settings. Claudia has a strong track record in the development and application of novel computer imaging methodologies applied to routinely collected health data.
The focus of her research is on the automated analysis of medical images for studying, diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders. Her early work in this area has been patented and incorporated into a number of commercial software packages. This has also led to the development of the BoneFinder® software tool which is used across the world for research purposes (www.bone-finder.com).

BoneFinder®: a software tool to enable automated bone shape analyses

This seminar will summarise our work on the BoneFinder® software tool which provides an example of how medical imaging and machine learning can be combined to develop software that can help both clinical researchers and clinicians. The focus will be on automated bone shape analysis methods, and how these can be used to study, diagnose and monitor disease.
