Chest Wall Perforator Flaps for Partial Breast Reconstruction
Oncoplastic breast surgery has resulted in better aesthetic outcomes and quality of life as compared to conventional breast surgery. In small to medium sized breasts, volume replacement techniques would be indicated, especially in relatively larger tumours to avoid major deformity. Partial breast reconstruction using local perforator flaps ((LICAP/MICAP/AICAP) has increased its utility in such settings progressively over the last two decades. As a result, the indications for breast conserving surgery have expanded and mastectomy has been avoided in a selected number of patients with high tumour to breast ratio.
